Planning a holiday in Singapore? Whether it’s your first visit or a long awaited return, this vibrant island nation offers the perfect blend of modern attractions, heritage districts, and world class cuisine, all packed into a city you can easily explore in just a few days.
In this five day Singapore itinerary, we’ll guide you through the best things to see, do, and photograph, from the futuristic skyline of Marina Bay to the colorful shophouses of Chinatown, the peaceful temples of Little India, and the tropical gardens that make Singapore truly unique.
This post kicks off Day 1 of our Singapore Street Shots 5-Day Holiday Series, designed for everyday travelers who want to see the highlights and uncover the city’s local charm. Each day blends iconic sights, cultural stops, and photo worthy moments that capture the real spirit of Singapore.
So grab your camera, stay hydrated, and let’s begin your journey in the heart of Marina Bay, where modern Singapore began and still shines brightest.
Day 1: Discovering Marina Bay and the Colonial District
(The first in a five-part Singapore Street Shots series)

Welcome to Singapore! Since you’ve just arrived and might still be adjusting to the time zone and tropical climate, today’s plan keeps things easy with mostly indoor and waterfront highlights, the perfect mix of cool air-conditioning and iconic city views.
MORNING: GARDENS AND ARCHITECTURE
Start your adventure at Gardens by the Bay One of Singapore’s most spectacular attractions. Wander among the Supertree Grove, step inside the Cloud Forest and Flower Dome, and enjoy the misty air and vibrant plant life that feels like a world away from the city bustle.
Next, cross over to the Marina Bay Sands Hotel. Head up to the SkyPark Observation Deck (tickets available at Tower 3) for panoramic views of the bay and Singapore’s futuristic skyline.

If you’re into art, design, and technology, pop into the ArtScience Museum, The lotus-shaped building at the edge of the bay. The immersive digital installations are both cool and photo worthy.
MIDDAY: EAT, SHOP, AND CRUISE

For lunch, explore The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands. It’s luxurious and a bit pricey, but a fun place to window shop or grab a bite while staying out of the heat.
When you’re ready to unwind, take a Singapore River Cruise. It’s a relaxing way to glide past Singapore’s history, from the colonial bridges of Boat Quay to the modern skyline of Marina Bay.
Along the river, you’ll pass Clarke Quay, Boat Quay, and Robertson Quay, each lined with cafes, restaurants, and bars. They’re perfect spots to stop for a drink or late lunch with a view of the water.

EVENING: BAYFRONT LIGHTS AND COCKTAILS

As the sun sets, the Marina Bay area transforms into one of the world’s most dazzling nightscapes. Stroll the Bayfront Promenade, catch the light and water show in front of Marina Bay Sands, and end your evening with a cocktail (or two) at one of the waterfront lounges while you watch the city sparkle.
